The Lighthouse for the Blind offers instructional training for sighted and blind people in reading and typing Braille. For the blind clients, the need to read and type Braille is a matter of basic communication survival.
For the sighted, Braille classes are most often provided to teachers who will create lesson plans for blind children so that they can be included in classes with the rest of the children of their age. These teachers may also focus only on training blind children to read and type Braille so that they can participate in classroom learning.
Your support can keep the Braille classes in session. Your donations will be targeted to hiring trained instructors to teach blind clients and sighted teachers in Braille communication and typing. In the future, we hope to be able to provide a Braille printer to local schools so that teachers can print lesson plans, tests and other classroom materials in Braille for blind students.
