The Broom and Brush factory employs blind (and deaf) workers to produce brushes, mops, and brooms for sale to industry. It offers meaningful employment with appropriate wages to blind workers who are supporting their families.
The factory produces standard items as wells a brushes manufactured to exacting specifications for specialized applications. Learning to operate the complex machinery used to produce the brushes is a challenge for anyone and the blind workers in this sheltered factory have mastered the functions of the giant machines. The workers are able to produce brushes of any size, with any type or thickness of bristles, in virtually any shape, and even with designs produced by different color bristle arrangements. The factory also assembles specialty brooms by hand. These are sold by high-end to customers who value handmade workmanship in a design that has not changed in a hundred years.
The workers are proud of their products that are sold to industry and government in order to fund the factory.
