The Braille Lending Library has thousands of volumes of classic, current, and reference books in stock and many thousands out on loan. The largest facility of its kind in Greece has a collection of Braille volumes that has been built up over decades and includes books on a myriad of subjects.
Braille volumes take up much more room than standard books (Braille printing is larger and can only be done on a single side of a sheet) and are therefore only available in a few locations around the country. The Braille Lending Library is a key resource for blind scholars as well as a treasured place to find fiction and non-fiction literary works for blind clients. It even contains Braille works authored by blind writers available nowhere else.
Your support can keep the Braille Lending Library stocked. Your donations will be targeted to buying new volumes available in Braille, commissioning the printing of popular and current materials not available in Braille and repairing current volumes that have been damaged in the lending process. The repair process is significant because after a number of uses, Braille bumps become less readable and pronounced and pages that are read by hand experience tears and folds.
