  • Many technical instruments and machines can not be use by the blind.
  • The Lighthouse for the Blind has an ISO9001-compliant factory that has done some ground-breaking work to make instruments accessible.
  • We hope to create a department that will create new software for technical instruments in collaboration with universities and technical firms.


The Braille typewriters are unlike any other typewriter and they require a good deal of instruction and practice to master.^2
  • The Lighthouse for the Blind has established a basic website in the past 2 years.
  • Traffic to the website has confirmed a great interest on the part of sightless all over Greece to get help with education, services, work-aids, etc. www.faros.org.gr
  • We hope to create a program of E-Learning and in Braille using the website and specialized equipment for the sightless who can not visit our annexes or main facility.


Trained art teachers who specialize in education for the handicapped administer the ceramics workshop and the programs available to blind and multi handicapped.^03
  • The Lighthouse for the Blind started a pilot program for 4 multi-handicapped children several years ago.
  • The program has been a resounding success. Pieces are being sold and are on exhibit in several galleries.
  • We hope to expand the program to include a minimum of 10 multi-handicapped adults with a focus on developing facilities and support services to allow them to excel in art ceramics.
